What to Expect from your Anxiety Treatment

You’ve decided to attempt to treat your anxiety. Now, it is important to be aware that, at first, is usually one step forward and two backwards. This can make you feel disappointed. However, the more you try, the more confidence you have and the problem will gradually disappear.

Often we fear what others may think, and indeed, those who have never had a panic attack may judge harshly those who suffer from anxiety. Sometimes, it’s even hard for us to understand how we got to develop this problem, and we then, judge ourselves more harshly than anyone else.

Anxiety has no relation with the ability or courage of a person. The situations that trigger a panic attack, are not exactly the most dangerous, are simply situations that make us feel powerless.

It is easy to be bold and courageous, when our world feels safe inside, but when fear comes from within, we feel more vulnerable. When we doubt our own ability to manage feelings, our self confidence is deeply affected.

Remember, despite your anxiety level and the treatment you have chosen, either therapy or medication, every step you take, even if it is backwards, is on the right track to recovery and the fact you are trying every day, is enough prove that your courage is intact and growing.

Throughout the treatment, you will find good days and bad days, but it is important not to give up. All that matters is the persistence, that is the key during the recovery process.
